Before Trump takes office, the United States is pushing for aid to Ukraine.

Washington, D.C. The announcement of an additional $2.5 billion in military aid to Ukraine by President Joe Biden is a significant step as his government seeks to strengthen Kyiv's defenses prior to the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump. This most recent package contains $1.22 billion in longer-term weapons packages under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI)3 and $1.25 billion in presidential drawdown authority, which would enable the military to swiftly remove current stock from its shelves.

"At my direction, the United States will continue to work relentlessly to strengthen Ukraine's position in this war over the remainder of my time in office," Biden said, underscoring the need for this assistance. The goal of the additional aid is to give Ukraine an instant boost of

capabilities, such as artillery, air defense, and other vital weaponry systems.

With Ukrainian forces intercepting a large number of missiles and drones, Russia has stepped up its strikes on Ukraine's power infrastructure, which coincides with this announcement. In order to provide Kyiv with the best negotiating position prior to Trump's inauguration in January 2021, the Biden administration is working to send weapons into Ukraine. pledged $175 billion in help to Ukraine in total. Recent actions by the Biden administration demonstrate its dedication to assisting Ukraine's security and guaranteeing Kyiv a robust bargaining stance against Russian aggression.

President-elect Trump has stated that he wants the war to end quickly and has questioned the extent of American involvement in the combat, arguing that more of the financial burden should fall on European partners. U.S. and European leaders are now worried that Trump's strategy could lead to a less advantageous agreement for Ukraine.
